We are looking for passionate, dynamic, and visionary researchers for our Software Systems Research Department, which is responsible for driving fundamental research on all aspects of the design, implementation, evaluation, and verification of emerging software systems. The team takes an experimental approach in building real systems to investigate new research ideas. It investigates software-based platforms at all scales, from handheld devices to cloud computing data centers. Areas of special focus include decentralized and distributed systems, cloud platforms, Web technologies, AI/ML systems, privacy, software engineering and—increasingly—Web3/cryptonetworks technologies. The department has members in Murray Hill (NJ, USA).
This position offers unique opportunities for stimulating and rewarding professional development—you will tackle a broad range of important real-world challenges; interact with global teams, including customers, Nokia business groups, universities, governments; nurture research projects, moving them from seminal ideas through solution development and evaluation to commercialization and deployment; see people benefit from your team’s research. And, the position comes with a wealth of research freedom. We offer an inspiring and supportive environment hard to find elsewhere.
Your main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Carry out ground-breaking research in the areas of emerging software technologies (Web3, decentralized systems, cryptonetworks, blockchain, privacy-preserving systems) for creating both theoretical innovations and novel practical implementations.
- Propose new innovations, implement, validate, and accelerate their adoption through Nokia business groups, incubation, or external spin-offs.
- Publish research through the major research conferences and journals worldwide.
- Keep an active and visible role in the research community through conference committees and reviewing panels.
- Create and maintain strong collaborative associations with university-based researchers.
Applicants will be selected on a rolling basis. For inquiries please write to Markus Hofmann.
